LOUISE HAYS PARK - A 70 acre sanctuary in downtown Kerrville on the banks of the Guadalupe River. Pavilion & barbeque, tennis courts, picnic tables, playground, 6 regulation horseshoe pits, public restrooms, walking trail with bridges that connect Tranquility Island, (a solitary spot, mid-river), to the park, Riverwalk & library. From historic downtown, take Hwy 16 South over the bridge, turn rt. on Thompson Drive. Park is on the right.
LOST MAPLES STATE PARK - A 2,174 acre state natural area located in Bandera Co., 5 miles north of Vanderpool on RR 187. Each year in November the fall colors rival any you have ever seen. Enjoy the parks steep, rugged canyons, grasslands, and clear streams anytime of year. Camping sites, primitive camping areas, picnicking, hiking trails, birdwatching, an interpretive center, and a Texas State Parks store.
